• University of Chitral Observes Youm-e-Istehsal to Express Solidarity with Kashmiri People

    On the directives of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah Vice Chancellor, the University of Chitral observed Youm-e-Istehsal on August 5, 2025, to express unwavering support and solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The university administration, faculty members, and students condemned India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and exploitation of the people. Different banners, posters, standees and placards with messages of condemnation of India and solidarity for Kashmari’s peoples were displayed. The activity highlighted that the Kashmiris' struggle is in line with international laws and UN Security Council resolutions, and the occupation of Kashmir by Indian security forces is a violation of international norms. The focal person of the programe was Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Head of the Department of Political Science. He briefed the participants about the political, legal, cultural and social implications of the abrogation of the article (370) and 35(a) and highlighted importance of observance of the day. Dr. Sana Ullah, Head of the Department of Sociology, and Mr. Basharat Hussain, Lecturer, Department of Political Science, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of standing by the people of Kashmir in their struggle for justice, freedom, and dignity.

    As part of the observance, a solidarity walk was organized within the campus premises. Students passionately participated in the walk, chanting slogans in support of Kashmir and calling for an end to the human rights violations in the region. The program concluded with a one-minute silence in honor of the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people in their fight for self-determination. The University of Chitral reaffirmed its commitment to continue raising its voice for the rights of the Kashmiri people at all forums with a firm commitment to continue support to the exploited Kashmiri people in their struggle for their right of self-determination
