The Women
Empowerment Section, Youth Development Center, University of Chitral, organized
an event in connection with International Women’s Day in collaboration with the
Awakening Organization Swat. Mrs. Musarat Jabeen, Principal of Government Girls
Degree College Chitral, was the chief guest of the ceremony. The theme for the
day was “Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”. The theme for the
speech competition was “Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality,” while
the painting competition focused on the theme of “Embracing Equality.” Mrs.
Musarat Jabeen, Chief Guest of the event, Mr. Zahoor Ul Haq Danish, Convenor
Student Societies, University of Chitral, and Mr. Irfan Hussain Babak were
judges for the speech competition and Mr. Mohsin ul Mulk Siddiqui, Lecture
Computer Science, Ms. Asifa Andaleeb, Lecturer Pakistan Studies, Ms. Nazia
Aman, Lecturer Philosophy and Advocate Ms. Raheela Kanwal, were judges for the
painting competition. Following the competitions, a panel discussion was held
on the topic of “Challenges Faced by Women in Chitral, Opportunities, and the
Way Forward.” Panelists briefly shared their thoughts and stories of struggle
with the audience. The panelists included Mrs. Yasmeen Cheema, a YouTuber, Miss
Hajiya Hussain from the population department, a businesswoman Miss Nazia, the
CEO of Nisa Services, Miss Farida Faree, social activist and writer, along with
Miss Dilshad Pari, who is first female SHO from Chitral, stationed at police
station Shoghor, and Miss Rizwana Bilquis, lecturer of Botany, University of
Chitral. The panelists shared their stories and highlighted the important role
of women in society.
The winners of
the speech and painting competition were awarded prizes. Fahim Ullah, BBA 1st semester, Sawera Hussain, BS English 3rd semester and Faizyab Sadat, BS CS 3rd semester, respectively stood first, second,
and third in the speech competition, and Safina and Ambareena BS Economics 7th semester, Sehrish and Nazish BS Economics 6th semester, Samreena Hussain and group BS
English 6th semester were first, second and third winners
of the painting competition. Additionally, to acknowledge the services of our
proud daughters of Chitral, appreciation shields were distributed among them.
The chief guest, Mrs. Musarat Jabeen, and the CEO of the “The Awakening
Organization Swat,” Mr. Irfan Hussain Babak also shared their thoughts
regarding the importance of gender equality. Ms. Nahida Noor, the head of the
women empowerment section, concluded the program by delivering her closing
remarks and expressed her gratitude to the participants for their active
participation.
