• One-Day Seminar on NFC Share and Challenges Faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Held at the University of Chitral

    In compliance with Honorable chief Minsiter’s KP directive, one-day seminar on “NFC Share and the Challenges Faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was organized at the University of Chitral.”  The seminar was attended by faculty members, administrative staff, students, and representatives from the University of Chitral and its affiliated colleges. Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, Vice Chancellor, University of Chitral welcomed guest speakers Prof. Dr. Anwar Shah, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Dr. Inayat Ullah Faizi (TI), Dr. Irfan Mehsud-Assistant Professor from NDU, Islamabad and all participants from the University of Chitral and its affiliated colleges.  In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, highlighted the significance of the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair share for the provinces, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, given its unique developmental and security-related challenges. He emphasized that the Honorable Chief Minister wish that each and every citizen should be well aware of the NFC history, its current distribution and the demand for just and equitable share. Dr. Inayat Ullah Faizi (TI) delivered a comprehensive presentation on the historical background, formation, and constitutional role of the NFC in Pakistan’s federal structure. He also underscored the necessity for regular NFC updates to address emerging economic realities. Prof. Dr. Anwar Shah of Quaid-i-Azam University discussed the breakdown of the NFC Award with relevant facts and figures. He elaborated on the financial imbalances faced by the provinces and stressed the need for transparency, updated data, and a more equitable distribution mechanism. Dr. Irfan Mehsud from NDU spotlighted a critical analysis of the NFC Award. He examined the structural challenges, political constraints, and administrative hurdles that hinder the smooth execution of NFC provisions. His presentation also included policy recommendations for improving fiscal federalism in Pakistan. Dr. Sajjad-Head of Political Sciences- gave debriefing of the seminar. Dr. Sana Ullah- Head of Sociology expressed gratitude to all guest speakers and participants for their active participation. The event emphasized the need for continued dialogue, research, and policy advocacy to ensure Khyber Pakhtunkhwa receives its due financial share for sustainable development.
