The University of Chitral hosted Iqbal Festival ,
a literary celebration jointly organized by the Department of Urdu and the
Youth Empowerment Club (YEC). The event aimed to honor the legacy of Allama
Muhammad Iqbal and promote his philosophical thought among the youth.
Participants from
various departments of the University of Chitral were joined by students from
Government Degree College (Boys), Government Girls Degree College, and several
private schools across the district.
A series of literary competitions marked the festival’s
proceedings. In Bait Bazi, students demonstrated their poetic memory
and command of Urdu literature, while Kalam-e-Iqbal featured
passionate recitations of Iqbal’s poetry, earning wide appreciation from the
audience.
The event was graced by distinguished literary
personalities. Noted scholar Mr. Abdullah Shahab attended
as the chief guest and judge, while celebrated literary figure Mr. Ehsan
Shahabi also served as judge. The festival was held under the
supervision of Dr. Nadeem, Head of the Department of Urdu,
with organizational support led by Mr. Jawad Hussain Shah,
President of the Youth Empowerment Club.
Addressing the gathering at the conclusion of the event,
Dr. Nadeem emphasized the enduring relevance of Iqbal’s message of Khudi
(selfhood). He urged students to embrace intellectual growth, moral discipline,
and a commitment to societal progress.
