Dr. Shah Fahad Ali Khan presented his research at the 2nd Interpolar Conference on the theme “Policy Implications for High Alpine Mountain Conservation in Northern Pakistan.” In his talk, he emphasized the urgent need for wildlife management policies to become climate-adaptive, noting that the rapid loss of glaciers is driving habitat degradation in northern Pakistan.
He highlighted that such environmental shifts may not only reduce the survival chances of key alpine species but also trigger significant behavioral changes in wildlife. Dr. Khan called for integrated conservation strategies that align with changing climatic realities to ensure the long-term protection of species and ecosystems in the region.
His presentation greatly sparked lively debate and interest among researchers present from both the Arctic and Hindu Kush–Himalaya (HKH) regions, underlining the shared challenges of conserving biodiversity in rapidly changing cryospheric environments
