The Directorate of Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Chitral organized a one-day conference titled "Reform Manifesto: Transforming Economy and Society" in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Development Economy (PIDE). The event took place on June 3, 2024, and featured prominent academics and experts discussing critical economic and societal reforms.
The Chief Guest of the program was Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahab, Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral, who inaugurated the conference. Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ul Haq, Vice Chancellor of PIDE, graced the event as the Guest of Honor. Mr. Hafizullah, lecturer in the Department of Botany was the moderator of the conference. Dr. Muhammad Romman, Additional Director of ORIC organized the program along with focal persons Dr. Shujaat Farooq from PIDE and Dr. Saiful Mujahid from the University of Chitral. Additionally, the Pro Vice Chancellor of PIDE, Miss Dur-e-Nayab, attended the event and contributed significantly to the discussions
The conference commenced with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ul Haq. He provided a detailed insight into Pakistan's economy and the shifting global economic trends. Dr.Nadeem Ul Haq also elaborated on the causes of the economic crisis in Pakistan, offering a comprehensive analysis and potential solutions.
Following Dr.Nadeem Ul Haq's address, Dr. Dur-e-Nayab delivered a presentation on building a cohesive community and society. Her talk highlighted the importance of social unity and collaborative efforts in driving economic and societal transformation.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahab, Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral, welcomed the guests and expressed hope that the University of Chitral will continue to collaborate with PIDE. He specifically encouraged faculty and students to avail of resources offered by PIDE. He emphasized the need for innovative approaches and strategic initiatives to address the current challenges and pave the way for sustainable development.
The conference concluded with a ceremony where shields and appreciation certificates were distributed among the participants, acknowledging their contributions and engagement.
