Directorate of
Student Societies at the University of Chitral organized a drug awareness
seminar with the theme of “Drug use among youth, its impact, and prevention” in
collaboration with District Youth Office Chitral and District Administration.
The Chief Guest of the program was the Vice Chancellor University of Chitral
Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah. Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Mr. Muhammad Ali and
District Police Officer Chitral Lower Mr. Akram Ullah also participated in the
program as Guest speakers.
The program started with the recitation of verses from the
Holy Quran. The director of student societies Mr. Zahoor Ul Haq Danish welcomed
the guests. Psychologist Miss Haleema Sulaiman carried out a detailed
presentation about the use of drugs among youth, their consequences, and
remedies.
The Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral discussed the impact
of drugs on youths in Chitral. He suggested that the youth of Chitral should
engage themselves in healthy activities. He said that lack of extracurricular
activities is the main cause of the increasing use of drugs among youths.
The District Police Officer Lower Chitral Mr. Akram Ullah
urged the students to focus on their studies and refrain from drugs. He said
that the students should use their willpower to control themselves and abstain
from the usage of drugs. He also suggested using social media positively.
District Khateeb Lower Chitral said that Islam has
prohibited the use of drugs. Selling and use of drugs in Islam are strictly
prohibited.
The Chief Guest of the program the Vice Chancellor
University of Chitral said that the students should not confine themselves to
mobile phones and social media. They should focus on research to find out
solutions to the excessive use of drugs in society.
At the end of the program, the Vice Chancellor presented
shields and souvenirs to the guest speakers.
