The
seminar commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a soulful
Naat.
Dr.
Muhammad Romman, Additional Directorate of ORIC, University of Chitral welcomed
guests, setting the tone for an engaging session.
After
that, Dr. Zia ud Din, a PhD expert in Maternal and Child Nutrition, delivered a
comprehensive presentation on General Nutrition Advocacy, emphasizing
nutrition’s integral role in daily life. He defined advocacy, highlighting its
significance in promoting awareness and policy changes. Dr. Zia ud Din also
discussed Pakistan’s nutritional landscape, focusing on underweight, stunting
and wasting. Additionally, he addressed challenges to nutrition, consequences
of malnutrition and the crucial role of advocacy.
Mr.
Shujat Fakhir, lecturer at KMU Peshawar, acknowledged collaborating
organizations, including UNICEF, funding the workshop.
Guests
received traditional Chitrali caps from University Dr. Muhammad Romman the
Additional Director ORIC University of Chitral, symbolizing appreciation.
Participants also received certificates for the 5 days workshop, recognizing
their engagement.
The
seminar concluded with insightful remarks from Additional District Commissioner
of Lower Chitral, Mr. Abbas Afridi and the Acting Vice Chancellor of the
University of Chital, Mr. Sanaullah. Their words reinforced the seminar’s
objectives: enhancing nutrition awareness, fostering academia-organization
collaboration and promoting policy changes.
The
seminar successfully bridged gaps between nutrition knowledge and advocacy,
encouraging continued collaboration.
