Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa β The University of Chitral recently hosted a two-day seminar on
American Studies in collaboration with the American Institute of Pakistan
Studies (AIPS), with sponsorship from the U.S. Embassy Islamabad. The event,
aimed at enhancing understanding of U.S. history, politics, and academic
opportunities, was organized under the leadership of Mr. Basharat Hussain, Head
of the Political Science Department at the University of Chitral. Distinguished
speakers at the seminar included Dr. Farhat Haq, Professor of Political Science
at Monmouth College, USA, and Mrs. Krystal Lin, Coordinator at AIPS, Islamabad.
The seminar brought together a
diverse group of students and faculty, who actively engaged in discussions led
by the expert speakers. Professor Dr. Farhat Haq and Mrs. Krystal Lin provided
valuable insights into the American political system, historical narratives,
and various scholarship opportunities available to Pakistani students wishing
to pursue higher education in the U.S.
The seminarβs opening ceremony
featured a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a warm welcome from Dr.
Sahib Khan, Registrar of the University of Chitral, who extended his greetings
to the guests and participants. Dr. Sahib Khan emphasized the significance of
such academic initiatives in strengthening institutional ties and fostering
international collaboration.
In addition to the seminar
sessions, a special meeting was held with both male and female faculty members
of the University of Chitral, where a range of topics related to academic
affairs were discussed. The meeting served as a platform for the exchange of
ideas on enhancing the academic environment, improving teaching practices, and
fostering greater faculty-student engagement, particularly with regard to
opportunities for research and further academic exchanges with the United
States.
At the conclusion of the
seminar, certificates of participation were awarded to attendees in recognition
of their active involvement. Dr. Sanaullah, Acting Vice Chancellor of the
University of Chitral, expressed his gratitude to the organizers, facilitators,
and participants, praising the seminarβs success in promoting academic exchange
and fostering greater cross-cultural understanding between Pakistan and the
United States.
The focal person for the
seminar, Mr. Basharat Hussain, extended his heartfelt thanks to the speakers,
faculty members, the administration of the University of Chitral, students, and
the organizing team, including Mr. Hafizullah for excellently conducting the
seminar, Dr. Saiful Mujahid Shah, Mrs. Samia Manan, and Mrs. Kausar Hussain,
for their dedication and hard work in making the event a success.
The seminar was widely regarded
as an enriching experience for all those involved, offering participants
valuable perspectives on American studies and the opportunities for academic
growth in the U.S.
