Office
of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) /GYM Club University of
Chitral organized an awareness session entitled “Insecticide Usage” on December
01, 2023.
This
training was conducted under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah
(Vice Chancellor of Chitral University). His Excellency is committed to
improving the research position of the University of Chitral across the globe.
The purpose of the session was to explain the harmful
effects of pesticides on health, explain why the general public is more
vulnerable to these effects, and suggest actions to lower insecticide exposure
in their neighborhood for the students of Chitral
University.
Dr.
Ishfaq Hameed (Convener Oversight Committee (OC)/HoD Botany), University of
Chitral, and Dr. Syed Fahad Ali Shah (Member Oversight Committee (OC/HoD
Economics), University of Chitral) were the organizers of the event. More than 17
faculty members and 183 students of the University of Chitral attended the
occasion. Members of the GYM club were also present at the event.
Dr.
Muhammad Naseer (Senior Research Officer, Agriculture Research Station,
Chitral) as a Resource person addressed the students and highlighted the
benefits of proper use of insecticides in Chitral.
Dr.
Muhammad Romman, Additional Director ORIC, University of Chitral, distributed
certificates among the participants and presented the shield to the Resource Person.
The training concluded with a healthy question-and-answer session from students
and faculty members.
