The University of Chitral,
through its Department of English, engaged in a significant training on Inter-Agency Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management
Guidelines, held from October 21 to 25, 2024, in
Murree. Organized by Rozan in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster
Management Authority (PDMA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA),
this event aimed to strengthen institutional capabilities in addressing GBV
with comprehensive, collaborative strategies.
Six universities from Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa participated, highlighting a shared commitment to fostering safer
academic environments. Representing the University of Chitral, Dr. Kifayatullah
was appointed as the focal person to coordinate with PDMA, ensuring sustained
engagement and implementation of training outcomes within the University. The
program emphasized trauma-informed practices, inter-agency coordination, and
contextually relevant strategies for GBV management.
On the final day, Vice
Chancellors from each institution signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with PDMA. Dr. Muhammad Shahab, Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral,
signed on behalf of the University, underscoring a commitment to gender-responsive
protocols and collaborative initiatives. This MoU represents a significant
advancement in GBV management, reinforcing the University of Chitral’s
dedication to promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment.
