Green Day Celebration 2022

Green Day was observed at the university of Chitral on 29/08/2022. The event was organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with the Forest Department Chitral. The Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr. Zahir Shah graced the occasion as Chief Guest Dr. Nadeem Hassan, Administrative officer at the University of Chitral formally welcomed the guests. Agriculturists and soil conservation experts also participated in the program. The Vice-Chancellor said that Global warming has become a reality and the only solution to the problem is a plantation of more trees. Today climate change is the biggest threat to human survival. Mr. Ajaz Ahmed from the forest department Chitral highlighted the role of the Forest Department in ecosystem restoration. Mr. Hafiz Ullah, lecturer in the Department of Botany said that the recent flood has inundated the biodiversity of Chitral. Human input is needed to bring back the lost biodiversity. Dr. Ishfaq Hameed, Head of the Department of Botany thanked the guests for their precious time and input. The Honorable Vice Chancellor planted Deodar saplings to mark the start of the green day celebrations. Pomegranate saplings were also distributed among the students and university employees.
